About the Karma brand
Karma Automotive is a California based luxury electric vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Irvine, California, and owned by China's Wanxiang Group. Founded in 2014 from the assets of the original Fisker Automotive, Karma builds low volume premium electric and range extended vehicles that blend American design, performance, and craftsmanship. Despite multiple restructurings and a turbulent financial history, Karma remains operational and continues to develop new luxury EVs for both domestic and international markets.
The company's core lineup includes the Revero GT and GS-6 range extended electric sedans, built at Karma's Moreno Valley, California assembly plant. These vehicles use dual motor electric drivetrains supported by a BMW sourced generator engine, providing smooth electric propulsion with extended range capability. Karma also offers the GSe-6, a fully electric variant of the GS-6 platform, representing its first step toward pure battery electric mobility. The brand's hallmark remains its long wheelbase proportions, handcrafted interiors, and focus on design led exclusivity.
In recent years, Karma has revealed several next generation BEV models in development- including the Karma Kayeya, Karma Gyesera, and Karma Ivara. These vehicles are expected to share a newly engineered modular electric platform designed for high performance applications. The Gyesera, a grand touring sedan, is the most advanced of the three, featuring rear wheel drive, long range capability, and advanced driver assist technology. The Kayeya and Ivara are planned to extend Karma's reach into the premium crossover and luxury coupe segments. As of 2025, these models remain in pre production or prototype stages, with full launch timelines yet to be confirmed.
Karma continues to operate the Karma Innovation and Customization Center (KICC) in California, providing contract manufacturing and engineering services to third party clients, including startups seeking low volume EV production. The company also licenses its E-Flex platform for autonomous, delivery, and sports applications. This diversification reflects Karma's ongoing strategy to sustain operations through partnerships while refining its transition to fully electric platforms.
Through its blend of craftsmanship, design, and electrification, Karma occupies a unique position in the luxury EV niche. The successful production of the Kayeya, Gyesera, and Ivara will determine whether the brand's long promised electric renaissance materializes or remains in development. For now, Karma stands as one of the longest surviving boutique EV marques in the United States, continuing to evolve amid a rapidly consolidating global EV landscape.
