About the Maserati brand
Maserati is an Italian luxury and performance automaker headquartered in Modena, Italy, and part of the Stellantis Group. Founded in 1914, Maserati has built its reputation on craftsmanship, grand touring performance, and distinctive Italian design. As part of Stellantis's global electrification roadmap, Maserati is undergoing a major transformation to become one of the first heritage luxury brands to transition its entire lineup to battery electric power by the end of the decade.
The brand's electrified range is being introduced under the Folgore (Italian for "lightning") sub brand, which designates all of Maserati's battery electric models. The company's first BEV, the GranTurismo Folgore, launched in 2023 as a fully electric grand tourer combining heritage styling with cutting edge propulsion. Powered by a tri motor setup delivering over 560 kW (760 horsepower), the GranTurismo Folgore accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and offers an estimated range of up to 450 kilometers (WLTP). The system is derived from Formula E technology, utilizing a 92.5 kWh battery with 800 volt architecture for ultra fast charging.
Following the GranTurismo, Maserati introduced the Grecale Folgore, a mid size luxury SUV built on the Stellantis Giorgio EV platform. The Grecale Folgore combines dual motor all wheel drive with refined dynamics, premium materials, and advanced digital features including a 12.3 inch touchscreen and Maserati's intelligent infotainment interface. The MC20 Folgore, a fully electric version of Maserati's flagship supercar, is currently in development and expected to debut by 2026, further extending the brand's electrified performance portfolio.
By 2028, every Maserati model- including the Levante, Quattroporte, and MC20- will offer a Folgore variant or move entirely to electric power. This transition is supported by Stellantis's global EV platforms and battery technology investments, ensuring both performance consistency and sustainable production. Maserati's Modena facility has been retooled for electric vehicle manufacturing, preserving Italian craftsmanship while integrating new digital and propulsion systems.
Maserati's approach to electrification prioritizes performance, emotion, and design authenticity. The brand aims to retain its characteristic sound, feel, and dynamic personality even as it transitions to zero emission powertrains, using advanced acoustic and software tuning to deliver a uniquely "Maserati" driving experience.
Electrification Status
Maserati is a transitioning luxury automaker rapidly advancing toward a fully electric lineup. With the Folgore sub brand leading its transformation and multiple BEVs in production and development, Maserati is combining Italian performance heritage with cutting edge electrification to define the future of luxury sports mobility.
