About M-Hero

M-Hero ( Mengshi Auto) is a Chinese high-performance off-road electric vehicle brand established by Dongfeng Motor Corporation. Officially launched in 2022, M-Hero represents Dongfeng's entry into the premium new energy off-road segment, combining rugged military-inspired design with advanced electrification and intelligent driving technologies. The brand's name, "Mengshi," translates to "Warrior," symbolizing strength, endurance, and capability in extreme environments.

The first model, the M-Hero 917, debuted in 2023 as a luxury all-electric SUV built on Dongfeng's dedicated Electric Off-Road Architecture (MORA). The vehicle features a quad-motor setup delivering a combined output of up to 800 kW (1,073 horsepower), enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in approximately 4.2 seconds despite its large size and off-road orientation. It is equipped with a 142.7 kWh ternary lithium battery pack supplied by CATL, offering a CLTC range of around 505 kilometers. The platform supports three locking differentials, torque vectoring, and adjustable air suspension for advanced terrain capability.

In addition to the pure battery electric version, M-Hero also offers an EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) variant of the 917 that pairs the electric drivetrain with a range-extending gasoline generator for enhanced endurance in remote areas. This dual approach gives the brand flexibility in both urban and adventure applications while maintaining full-time electric drive operation. The M-Hero 917's design blends sharp, military-inspired styling with modern luxury, including a panoramic digital cockpit, off-road telemetry systems, and AI-powered voice control.

M-Hero has announced several additional models under development, including a pickup truck variant and a smaller off-road SUV, all leveraging the same MORA platform. The company's vehicles are produced at Dongfeng's state-of-the-art Mengshi Technology plant in Wuhan, which is dedicated exclusively to electric and hybrid off-road vehicles. M-Hero also plans to expand internationally, targeting markets such as the Middle East and Europe where demand for high-end electric SUVs is growing.

The brand competes directly with global performance off-road EVs such as the GMC Hummer EV, Rivian R1S, and Yangwang U8, positioning itself as a uniquely Chinese interpretation of electric adventure and performance luxury. With its military heritage and robust design, M-Hero emphasizes durability, capability, and technology integration- qualities deeply embedded in Dongfeng's engineering DNA.
