About the LEVC brand
LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company) is a British electric vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Ansty, Coventry, and a subsidiary of China's Geely Holding Group. Founded as the London Taxi Company and rebranded to LEVC in 2017, the company is best known for producing the iconic London black cab in electrified form. Under Geely ownership, LEVC has evolved from a specialist taxi producer into a commercial and passenger EV manufacturer focused on sustainable urban mobility solutions.
LEVC's core product is the TX, a plug in hybrid range extended electric taxi that replaced the traditional diesel London cab. The TX features a 31 kWh battery and a small gasoline range extender, offering an electric only range of around 100 kilometers and a total range exceeding 500 kilometers. The TX is now deployed in multiple global cities, serving as a zero emission solution for urban fleets and professional drivers. It is manufactured at LEVC's state of the art facility in Ansty, the first purpose built electric vehicle factory in the United Kingdom.
Building on the TX platform, LEVC introduced the VN5, a light commercial van using the same eCity range extended electric powertrain. The VN5 targets fleet operators and logistics providers seeking low emission solutions for last mile delivery. With a payload capacity of up to 830 kilograms and a total driving range of over 500 kilometers, it provides a balance between urban electric operation and long range flexibility.
In 2024, LEVC unveiled its next generation vehicle architecture, the Space Oriented Architecture (SOA), developed in collaboration with Geely. This modular, skateboard style EV platform supports a wide variety of body types, from MPVs to delivery vans, and will underpin all future LEVC products. The first fully electric model built on SOA will debut in 2025, marking the company's transition from range extended hybrids to pure battery electric vehicles. The new platform offers up to 200 kWh of battery capacity, long range capability, and advanced digital features including over the air updates and autonomous readiness.
LEVC plays a strategic role in Geely's global electrification portfolio alongside brands such as Volvo, Polestar, and Zeekr. The company's focus on urban commercial vehicles, electric taxis, and purpose built electric platforms positions it as a key contributor to the shift toward cleaner city transport and professional mobility solutions.
Electrification Status
LEVC is a transitioning electric automaker evolving from range extended hybrids to fully battery electric vehicles. With the launch of its Space Oriented Architecture and upcoming all electric models, the brand is moving toward a pure play zero emission identity while maintaining its legacy of reliability, functionality, and urban design heritage.
LEVC's electrification journey entered a new phase with the introduction of the L380, the company's first fully battery electric vehicle built on its new Space Oriented Architecture (SOA). Revealed in late 2023, the L380 is a large luxury MPV designed for both private and professional mobility applications. It features a long wheelbase layout, 800 volt high voltage architecture, and battery capacities exceeding 100 kWh, providing a driving range of up to 700 kilometers under the CLTC cycle. The interior is configured for up to eight passengers, combining the spacious practicality of a shuttle with premium materials and advanced connectivity systems powered by Geely's digital ecosystem. The L380 marks LEVC's transformation from a specialist producer of electric taxis into a full scale manufacturer of advanced battery electric vehicles, expanding its reach into global passenger and fleet markets.
