About the Rimac brand
Rimac Automobili is a Croatian electric hypercar manufacturer headquartered near Zagreb, founded in 2009 by entrepreneur and engineer Mate Rimac. The company has become one of the most respected names in high-performance electrification, pioneering advanced battery systems, electric drivetrains, and vehicle control software that now power multiple global supercar brands. Rimac's philosophy centers on pushing the boundaries of what is technically possible in electric mobility while maintaining the emotional intensity of traditional performance driving.
Rimac gained global attention with its first production model, the Concept_One (2016), one of the world's earliest electric hypercars. Limited to just eight units, it featured four independent electric motors producing a combined 913 kW (1,224 hp) and 1,600 Nm of torque. The Concept_One accelerated from 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and introduced Rimac's proprietary All-Wheel Torque Vectoring (AWTV) system- a software-controlled dynamic platform that distributed power in real time to optimize handling and traction. This innovation established Rimac as a technological benchmark in the global EV performance sector.
The company's second model, the Rimac Nevera, launched in 2021, redefined electric hypercar performance. Powered by a 120 kWh, 6,960-cell battery and four bespoke motors, the Nevera delivers 1,408 kW (1,914 hp) and 2,360 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 km/h in 1.74 seconds- verified as the fastest accelerating production car in the world. The Nevera also set multiple world records for acceleration and braking in 2023, underscoring Rimac's mastery of both hardware and control algorithms. With a top speed of 412 km/h and a WLTP range of up to 490 kilometers, it balances extreme performance with usability and refinement.
The Nevera's structure is based on a full carbon-fiber monocoque integrating the battery pack as a structural element, ensuring torsional rigidity and optimal weight distribution. Inside, the cockpit combines luxury materials with digital instrumentation and customizable drive modes. Each vehicle is hand-built in limited numbers at Rimac's state-of-the-art Rimac Campus near Zagreb, completed in 2024, which serves as both a production facility and R&D hub for next-generation EV technologies.
In 2021, Rimac merged its hypercar operations with Bugatti Automobiles under a joint venture called Bugatti Rimac, in which Rimac Group holds a controlling 55% stake. The venture combines Bugatti's heritage in combustion performance with Rimac's expertise in electrification to develop hybrid and fully electric hypercars for the coming decade. Meanwhile, the Rimac Technology division continues to supply batteries, inverters, and powertrain systems to major automakers including Porsche, Koenigsegg, Aston Martin, and Pininfarina.
Rimac's future plans include expanding its product range beyond the Nevera to include new hypercar concepts and advanced technology platforms for other manufacturers. The company is also deeply involved in next-generation solid-state battery development, ultra-fast charging systems, and AI-based vehicle dynamics control software.
