Finding
ADAS hardware has split into two complete supply chains, and Chinese automakers now source nearly every layer at home
A Western automaker's ADAS typically pairs a Mobileye, Qualcomm or NVIDIA chip with Bosch, Continental, Aptiv, Valeo or Magna sensors. A Chinese automaker can buy the whole set domestically: Horizon Robotics or Huawei compute, OmniVision and Sunny Optical cameras, Calterah-based radars, Hesai or RoboSense lidar, and software from Huawei, Momenta or DJI Automotive (Zhuoyu). US rules barring Chinese connected-vehicle software from model year 2027 and hardware from model year 2030 harden that split.
The Tier-1 map is changing. Continental spun off its automotive business as Aumovio in 2025; Magna absorbed Veoneer's active safety unit; Mobileye remains the volume leader in camera-based ADAS chips but faces Qualcomm and NVIDIA in higher tiers. In China, Horizon Robotics supplies most domestic brands, Huawei sells its ADS stack through HIMA partners and component deals, and Momenta supplies software to Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, GM and BYD China models.
Hardware categories: cameras (mono, stereo, surround view, thermal, driver monitoring), radar (short, medium, long range and 4D imaging), lidar (spinning and solid-state), ultrasonic sensors, compute (ECUs, domain controllers, central SoCs and AI accelerators), and support hardware such as IMUs, GNSS with RTK correction and fusion hubs. See EV Sensors for how they work together.
