Stellantis

STLA · ACC · StarPlus · Leapmotor

Stellantis took €25.4 billion of charges in 2025 to unwind an EV plan built on faster adoption than arrived. What remains is a smaller set of cell plants, a native-EV platform still to come and a Chinese partner supplying the low-cost technology.

The Stellantis EV reset in three columns. Kept: the ACC cell plant at Billy-Berclau Douvrin, France; the StarPlus Energy cell plant in Kokomo, Indiana with Samsung SDI; STLA Medium (Sochaux, Eisenach, Melfi); STLA Large (Windsor, Toluca); and the low-cost Smart Car platform with LFP batteries. Added: 51% of Leapmotor International, which sells Leapmotor cars in Europe; an LFP cell joint venture with CATL in Zaragoza starting at the end of 2026; Leapmotor B10 assembly in Zaragoza; and STLA One, a native-EV platform. Cut: the Ram 1500 REV electric pickup (cancelled 2025), ACC's Kaiserslautern and Termoli plants (cancelled 2026), the NextStar Energy stake (sold to LG Energy Solution in 2026) and a second StarPlus plant (on hold). One-off charges of €25.4 billion in 2025 produced Stellantis's first annual net loss. Finding

Stellantis has cut its EV commitment back to what demand supports, cancelling plants and a pickup while leaning on Leapmotor and CATL for cost

Stellantis reported a €22.3 billion net loss for 2025 after €25.4 billion of one-off charges, including the cancelled Ram 1500 REV, platform impairments and write-downs on the ACC gigafactories planned for Kaiserslautern and Termoli. In February 2026 it sold its 49% of the NextStar Energy plant in Windsor, Ontario to LG Energy Solution.

The EVs Stellantis does sell are mostly small and European: Peugeot e-208, Opel Corsa, Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600e on e-CMP; Citroën e-C3 and Fiat Grande Panda on the low-cost Smart Car platform with LFP packs; and Peugeot e-3008, e-5008 and Opel Grandland on STLA Medium. In North America, STLA Large carries the Dodge Charger Daytona and Jeep Wagoneer S. Every STLA platform is multi-energy, so the 2026 plan adds STLA One as a native-EV architecture with STLA Brain software.

Cells now come from three places: ACC in northern France, StarPlus Energy with Samsung SDI in Kokomo, Indiana, and from the end of 2026 an LFP joint venture with CATL in Zaragoza. Stellantis owns about 21% of Leapmotor and 51% of Leapmotor International, which sells the T03, C10 and B10 in Europe; Leapmotor's LEAP 3.5 architecture and LFP cell-to-chassis packs cost less than anything Stellantis built in-house.
