About the Qiantu brand
Qiantu Motor is a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, founded in 2015 as a subsidiary of CH Auto. The name "Qiantu," meaning "future" in Chinese, reflects the company's mission to produce high-performance electric vehicles that blend advanced engineering, elegant design, and sustainable innovation. Qiantu is one of China's earliest boutique EV startups, focused on creating luxury-oriented sports cars and coupes with distinctive styling and lightweight construction.
The company's first model, the Qiantu K50, debuted in 2018 as an all-electric two-seat sports car built on an aluminum frame with carbon-fiber body panels. It features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 320 kW (429 hp) and 680 Nm of torque, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in approximately 4.6 seconds. The K50 is powered by a 78 kWh battery pack supplied by CALB, offering a range of about 380 kilometers (NEDC). Designed for balance and agility, it emphasizes aerodynamic purity and precise handling over outright speed, establishing Qiantu as a design-driven alternative to mainstream electric performance brands.
The K50's interior combines digital instrumentation, premium materials, and a driver-focused cockpit layout. While initially produced in limited numbers, the model showcased CH Auto's capabilities in electric powertrain integration, lightweight materials, and vehicle design. In 2019, Qiantu announced plans to enter the U.S. market through a partnership with Mullen Technologies for local assembly, though the project was delayed due to financing and regulatory challenges.
Qiantu's follow-up model, the K20, introduced in 2023, represents a major strategic shift toward accessible urban electric mobility. The compact two-door EV combines minimalist design, agile handling, and efficiency in a lightweight package of under 800 kg. Powered by a 41.2 kWh battery, it offers up to 500 kilometers of range (CLTC) and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in around 4.7 seconds- impressive for its class. The K20 underscores Qiantu's goal to democratize performance-oriented EVs while retaining strong visual identity and innovative engineering.
Qiantu's vehicles are developed and produced at its Suzhou Intelligent Manufacturing Base, which integrates R&D, assembly, and quality control within a highly automated production system. The company emphasizes modular chassis development, battery integration, and vehicle aerodynamics as its core technical strengths, supported by CH Auto's design heritage.
Although production volumes remain limited, Qiantu continues to occupy a unique space within China's EV landscape- combining luxury design language, performance tuning, and material innovation in low-volume, boutique electric sports cars. Its upcoming roadmap reportedly includes next-generation roadsters and lightweight EV platforms optimized for energy efficiency and high structural rigidity.
Pure Electric Identity
Qiantu is a pure-play electric automaker, developing all vehicles and technologies exclusively for zero-emission performance. From the sculpted K50 sports car to the agile, city-focused K20, Qiantu represents China's boutique approach to electric design- merging craftsmanship, lightweight engineering, and sustainability to define a distinct vision of the electric future.
